The Many Benefits of Native Forests and Importance of Trees in Urban Areas


Inspired by Pure Advantage and Tānes Tree Trust programme of work O Tātou Ngāhere focussed on integrating more native forest into our whenua for all their benefits.

This session will recognise and value the non-timber values of native forests and discuss the importance of trees in urban areas, and of connecting (all) people with trees and nature, Māori values, and how these can be blended into/delivered by new native forests for all New Zealanders in both rural and urban settings. 

The session will begin with a screening of a 90 second trailer for the short documentary O Tātou Ngāhere that has gone on to inspire an episode of Country Calendar titled Cassie's Farm
